Alleged stabbing took place in Newbridge train station, Kildare court told

ACCUSATION

A Newbridge resident was accused of stabbing a man at the town’s train station.

Thomas McCann, with an address listed as Apartment 1, Block 8, at The Vale, College Farm in Newbridge, was accused of committing the offence at the station on the evening of January 31, 2020.

Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan that the alleged injured party was found 'lying on the ground, covered in blood,' and that his partner was beside him at the time.

After a book of evidencer was served on the 19-year-old accused, Judge Desmond Zaidan sent his case forward for trial to the present sittings of Naas Circuit Criminal Court.

Defending barrister Sarah Connolly also criticised the lack of a specific date being provided for her client.

"I’ve been raising this issue ad-nauseum," she told the judge.

Bail was granted for Mr McCann by Judge Zaidan until his case resumes.
