A male teenager allegedly stole a phone from a staff member following fight in a County Kildare shopping outlet.
The boy appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court on Thursday, October 26 last, during an in-camera (in private) court session.
He was accompanied in the courtroom by his mother.
Gardaí told the judge that the boy had been embroiled in a fight with another person at the shopping outlet.
This altercation was broken up by a staff member, but during the commotion, the staff member's phone, worth around €1,000, fell out of their pocket.
This phone was swiftly taken by the teenage boy.
His alleged offence was caught on CCTV, gardaí added.
Judge Zaidan accepted jurisdiction over the case and adjourned it to a date in December, in order to allow time for election and hearing.
