The poor condition of a gravel path in one region of Clane has been highlighted by one North Kildare councillor.

Fine Gael Cllr Brendan Weld voiced his concerns at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting on Friday, November 3 last.

He motioned for Kildare County Council to carry out repairs to footpaths and road surfaces at St Brigid's Terrace in Clane.

His motion was seconded by Independent Cllr Pádraig McEvoy.

Cllr Weld said that there are 'genuine concerns’ over trip hazards in the region.

In response, KCC said that no funding allocated in the current budget to carry out repairs, but added that footpath ‘will be assessed and considered as part of the Local Property Tax funded works in 2024.'

Cllr Weld asked KCC if the area could be added to the list for next year, to which one KCC engineer told him: "It can be considered.

"We have quite finite funding, however, if some minor works can be done in the interim, we can look into that."
