StudentSupport.ie, also known simply as Student Support, has released a statement aimed at children and teens who can't be collected from school.

The organisation, which is based in Newbridge, provides extra lessons, career guidance and counselling for students, in addition to running a homework club for primary school children from 2.30pm to 4pm.

The Student Support team said: "The cold and dark evenings are well and truly upon us. We understand that situations occur where kids / teenagers can't be collected from school, or parents get held up etc.

"Please let your children know that they are welcome to come into us to be safe and warm."

The team continued: "They can also have use of our phone to contact parents if needed too.

"We are based right beside the Holy Family Secondary School. We are open from 2.30pm everyday."

They concluded: "Our phone number if you need it is 087 119 0239."
