Short responses by Kildare County Council to councillor's queries criticised

Áras Chill Dara in Naas, the official headquarters of Kildare County Council.

The amount of short responses issued by Kildare County Council (KCC) at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting was criticised by a local representative.

Fine Gael councillor Tracey O'Dwyer made the comments at the meeting, which took place on Wednesday, November 15 last.

She submitted the following motion to KCC: "That KCC install a yellow box at the entrance to the car park beside Kilcullen Church."

This motion was seconded by her party colleague, Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer.

In response, KCC told Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer that there are no plans to install a yellow box at this location, and added that guidelines outline that yellow boxes are installed where two public roads meet.

Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer took issue with the consistency of KCC's short responses to motions at the meetings.

"A lot of them seem to only be one or two lines long on average," she said: "It's not very satisfactory... I think that KCC should have been more effort put into them."

A KCC engineer responded to her motion by saying that he would liase with her offline following the meeting.
