Brand new pedestrian facilities are on the way for Scoil na Naomh Uilig and Roseberry Hill area, Kildare County Council (KCC) has said.
The news was announced by KCC at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting, which took place on Wednesday, November 15 last.
It came about after Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender, who appeared at the meeting virtually, motioned for KCC to 'install a controlled crossing in the vicinity of Scoil Na Naomh Uilig to recognise the safety and well-being of the children attending the school.'
His motion was seconded by Sinn Féin Noel Connolly.
In response, KCC said in its report at the meeting: "Additional pedestrian facilities shall be provided for this area.
"The Traffic Management and MD Sections have been liaising with a developer who is conditioned to deliver these facilities as part of a planning permission."
KCC added that the works are planned to commence in the next few weeks, with completion anticipated in early 2024.
Cllr Pender said he welcomed the news and asked for KCC to put the matter on its progress report.
