A Naas District Court defendant was accused of being in possession of money that is the suspected proceeds of criminal conduct.

The allegations were made by gardaí in the case of Eoin Poole, with an address listed as 1846 Lourdesville in Kildare town, but who is currently remanded in custody.

The 30-year-old accused appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan via video-link on Thursday, November 23 last.

Gardaí allege that on February 20 last, Mr Poole was spotted acting in a suspicious manner by gardaí on patrol at Eyre Street in Newbridge.

They claim that when they stopped and searched Mr Poole, they allegedly found €1,186 in cash on his person.

Gardaí added that as a result, he was arrested and later brought to Newbridge Garda Station.

After hearing the alleged details of the accusations made by the State against Mr Poole, Judge Zaidan refused jurisdiction over the case.

He adjourned the case to January 1, 2024, to allow time for approval of his decision from the Director of Public Prosecutions  and for service of a book of evidence.

A separate Naas District Court matter involving Mr Poole as a defendant was adjourned by the judge to December 7.

Judge Zaidan remanded Mr Poole in custody until the latter date.
