A popular restaurant situated on George's Street in Newbridge will close with immediate effect at the end of business today.
Il Ponte Nuovo broke the news via a statement posted to its official Facebook page, in which it included a status saying: "Feeling heartbroken."
Commenting on the sudden closure, the management at Il Ponte Nuovo, which is a family-run Italian restaurant, said: "Il Ponte Nuovo Italian restaurant on George’s Street will close its doors with immediate effect as of end of business today, Sunday, December 10, 2023."
"It is with heavy hearts that we must share some unfortunate news.
"Il Ponte Nuovo Italian restaurant George's Street will be closing its doors immediately."
The management continued: "This is due to circumstances beyond our control, we are left with no choice but to say goodbye loyal customers in our restaurant on George’s Street.
"We want to take this moment to express our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers, and our amazing staff who have been the lifeblood of our restaurant for so many years.
"Your unwavering support, smiles and shared moments have meant the world to us, and we will cherish the memories we’ve created together.
"Though our journey comes to an end, the love and camaraderie we’ve experienced at il Ponte Nuovo will forever be etched in our hearts.
"Thank you for being a part of our family," the management concluded.
