An update on funding proposals under the Just Transition Tourism scheme for Clane-Maynooth Municipal District (MD) has been issued by Kildare County Council (KCC).

Social Democrats councillor Aidan Farrelly raised the subject at the latest MD meeting, which was held on Friday, December 1 last.

In respone, KCC said that it is currently engaged with Fáilte Ireland in the early stages of the Just Transition Tourism Scheme.

KCC elaborated: "This engagement involves the  prioritisation and agreement of projects across the two MDs in the Just  Transition area.

"This prioritisation will likely mean that there will, initially, be one project put forward in each MD with options currently being explored for the development of feasibility study to deliver an accessible walkway and interpretive route around and adjacent to Ballynafagh Lake."

KCC added: "Other options within the Just Transition Programme are also being explored for the completion / development of  an Eco Park in Robertstown."
