Swim Ireland is currently in discussions with Kildare County Council (KCC) over a proposed swimming pool for Maynooth.
KCC gave the update at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which was held on Friday, December 1.
Fianna Fáil councillor Naoise Ó Cearúil asked KCC to provide an update on 'the most recent developments' on the proposed swimming pool.
In response, KCC told Cllr Ó Cearúil: "Kildare County Council are currently in discussions with Swim Ireland with a view to advancing a swimming facility for North Kildare."
KCC added: "Meetings have been held with various suppliers and consultants with a view to exploring alternative solutions."
