While Christmas can be the happiest time of year for people, it can also be an incredibly tough and sad time for others.

Fortunately, in the case of Newbridge, there are six local initiatives that are making a significant impact.

Shared by Social Democrats councillor Chris Pender, the six initiatives can be viewed below:

NEWBRIDGE PARISH SHARE FOOD DRIVE

Supporting over 120 families weekly, Share Food has been a lifeline since its establishment in 2014.

Coordinated by dedicated individuals such as Sr Eileen Murphy, Mairead Ryan, and Gaye White, this initiative relies on the generosity of the community.

Consider donating tinned and dry in-date foods at St Conleth’s Church, Cill Mhuire, the parish centre, or participating supermarkets.

THE DINING ROOM

Addressing food poverty in the local area, The Dining Room is a charitable force funded entirely by voluntary donations.

This Christmas, they're calling for support to ensure families can celebrate the season.

Donations, including new toys, gifts for teenagers and adults, treats, and food shop vouchers, can be delivered to their shed beside the Open Arms in Newbridge Industrial Estate.

For inquiries, contact them at diningroomnewbridge@gmail.com or phone 0892368114.

The cut-off date for Christmas donations is December 16.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, situated at Courtyard Shopping Centre, Newbridge, plays a crucial role in providing direct, non-judgmental assistance to those in need.

From practical help to a friendly ear, they offer a range of supports aimed at fighting poverty.

If you or someone you know requires assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to them at (087) 3468556 or visit www.svp.ie.

NEWBRIDGE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE

Located at Dara Park, Newbridge, COUNTY KILDARE, W12 PX65, the Newbridge Family Resource Centre is a vital hub providing support and resources to families in the area.

If you or someone you know could benefit from their services, feel free to reach out to them at:
Phone: 045 438173 or Email: ADMIN@NEWBRIDGEFRC.IE

NEWBRIDGE KILDARE LIONS CLUB

The club is currently running a Christmas food appeal with the goal of supporting numerous families during the festive period and beyond.

For more information or to contribute to their appeal, you can reach out to them at: hello@nklionsclub.ie

In addition, Cllr Pender said that he is taking donations in his office for families that he works with directly, with anything extra going to The Dining Room.

"Let's come together as a community to support these initiatives and make a positive impact on the lives of our neighbors," he said: "In this season of giving, your generosity can bring joy and comfort to those who need it most."
