An Garda Síochána (AGS) has issued a witness appeal following a robbery incident in Derrinturn.
Commenting on the matter, a spokesperson for AGS said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a retail premises in Derrinturn, County Kildare earlier this morning on Monday, December 18, 2023.
"At approximately 6.35am, a male entered the premises and demanded money from the till.
"A sum of cash was taken."
The spokesperson continued: "The male was armed with a long bladed weapon and a firearm.
"The male is described as tall, and stocky build. He was wearing dark/ black tracksuit bottoms, dark-grey tracksuit sweater, black runners and a khaki-green balaclava.
"The male was carrying over his shoulder, a black shoulder bag with white pattern.
"No persons were injured."
The spokesperson further said that investigating gardaí in Lexlip Garda Station are appealing to any person who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them: "Any person who was in the area of the Derrinturn Main Street between 6.15am and 6.45am this morning, and who may have mobile phone or dash cam footage, is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
"Gardaí can be contacted at Leixlip Station on 01 666 7800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
"Investigations are ongoing," the spokesperson concluded.
