Maynooth University is proud to announce the establishment of the new W.A. Barrett Scholarship in Engineering. This scholarship has been developed through the generosity of Earthridge International and the Barrett Family to commemorate the late William Anthony (Tony) Barrett.
As an inspiring leader and local businessman, Tony was committed to supporting people to develop and progress and he possessed a strong interest in the field of engineering throughout his life. Earthridge International and Barrett’s of Maynooth were established by Tony Barrett in 1978 and today remain family-owned national leaders in the plumbing and heating sector in Ireland.
The W.A. Barrett Scholarship in Engineering provides €3,000 to two eligible first year undergraduate engineering students who are taking a Level 8 course that is accredited by Engineers Ireland at Maynooth University.
The first two scholarship recipients were presented with their awards at the Entrance Scholars Ceremony which took place at Maynooth University in October this year.
The Entrance Scholars Ceremony celebrates first year students who are in receipt of several categories of scholarships including 2023 Entrance Scholars, the 2023 Music Scholar, and this year included the first W.A.
