Extension of temporary road closure announced by Kildare County Council

The road closure will take place near Newbridge and Naas

Kildare County Council has announced the extension of a temporary road closure.

The council said: "Notice is hereby given of the decision of Kildare County Council to extend the duration of the closure as detailed below of the Newhall Road L2030 in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 to facilitate essential bridge rehabilitation works at the M7 Newhall Road Overbridge."

The closure will extended to Friday, March 1, 2024, and will take effect from (junction with) L2030 Roundabout at M7 Business Park, Newhall, Naas to (junction with) the R445 (Bundle of Sticks Roundabout).

According to Kildare County Council, the closure is required to facilitate permanent reinstatement.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

Traffic wishing to travel southeast on the L2030 over the M7 Newhall Road Overbridge towards Naas will be diverted from the junction of the L2006/L2030 'Floods Cross' where it shall turn right onto the L2006.

Traffic shall continue south on the L2006 to its junction with the R445 Newbridge/Naas Road.

Traffic shall then turn left onto the R445 and continue on the R445 towards Naas for approximately 1.6 kilometres to the Bundle of Sticks Roundabout where the diversion ends.

Traffic travelling northwest on the L2030 over the M7 Newhall Road Overbridge towards the M7 Business Park and onwards to Rathangan will not be affected by the Road Closure.

Local access will be maintained for all private properties and businesses located between 'Floods Cross' on the L2030 to the roundabout at the M7 Newhall Business Park, Naas.

Kildare County Council added: "Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the Council and An Garda Síochána."

"Any inconvenience caused is regretted," the council concluded.
