Retention of a car park with 149 spaces at a well-known County Kildare site is being sought, a planning permission application shows.
The application, which has been lodged with Kildare County Council, has been made by both Killross Properties Ltd and Springwood Ltd.
Permission is being sought for the retention of the car park at Castletown, Celbridge (in addition to permission for ancillary development and works) for a further period of five years.
Specifically, planning permission is sought for: the widening of the existing access road to a minimum of 5.5 metres; the provision of a 1.5m wide footpath adjoining the access road; the completion of the temporary car park with macadam surface; the provision of lighting to the car park and the access road from the existing public road to the boundary of Castletown House; and the provision of pedestrian and vehicular gates at the northern boundary with the public road and the southern boundary with Castletown House.

Planning permission is also being sought for the erection of a 1.4m high timber post and rail fence to the boundary of the car park; and all associated landscaping and all ancillary works.
The lands the subject matter of this application adjoin Castletown House and Demesne (A Protected Structure PRS Ref B11-13).
The date received on the application is listed as January 3 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as February 6 and February 27 respectively.
The application is currently in the pre-validation stage.
According to the business information website SoloCheck.ie, Killross Properties Ltd was established back in 2006.
It specialises in the 'buying and selling of own real estate' and has a registered address at New Road, Bawnogues, Straffan, County Kildare (W23 TY05).
SoloCheck.ie also shows that Springwood Ltd was established back in 1991.
It specialises in 'other business activities' and has an address at Turnings in Straffan, County Kildare.
