Extra classrooms at primary and secondary levels have been confirmed for the wider Newbridge area.
The Department of Education said the extensions to existing school buildings will take place at at Milltown National School and St Conleth's Community College.
Kildare South Fine Gael TD and Minister Martin Heydon has welcomed the news from the Department of Education which he said will help with future demand in the area.
St Conleth's Community College is to get a large extension of 8 mainstream classrooms, 6 special resource rooms along with a home economics room, science room, graphics room and ancillary accommodation.
This will allow the school to increase its capacity from the current 730 pupils to 1,000 pupils.
Milltown NS is to get an extension of one mainstream classroom and two special education classrooms to cater for increase demand in that area at primary level.
Mr Heydon said: "Both of these extensions will be very welcome in the area as capacity continues to grow for school places.
"I have continued to highlight the need for additional school places in the South Kildare area to the Department of Education and it is important now that these extensions as well as other planned extensions in the area would move quickly to ensure sufficient capacity for all those who need it in the year ahead."
