An attempted burglary incident which occurred in a South Kildare housing estate last week has prompted a garda investigation.

When asked about the incident by the Leinster Leader, a garda spokesperson had this to say: "Gardaí are investigating a burglary which occurred at a residence in Kilcullen, County Kildare on the evening of Wednesday, January 17, 2024."

The spokesperson added: "Investigations are ongoing."

Garda Aidan McGuane also discussed the matter on Kildare FM Radio Station this morning.

He told host Eoin Beatty that two men were trying to open the back door of the residence while the homeowner was still present inside the property.

When the homeowner went out to investigate the disturbance, they startled the two suspects, who proceeded to flee the scene.

Gda McGuane has appealed for anyone with information about this incident to call Kilcullen Garda Station at 045-481-212.
