New sports site proposed for Naas, County Kildare

A new sports site is being sought for Naas.

The applicant, Naas Sports Group Management CLG (otherwise known as Naas Sports Centre), is seeking to construct the development at the Caragh Road, Jigginstown in Naas.

According to the application, the facilities being proposed include: 

  • A new synthetic 400m eight-lane running track 
  • A new drainage and attenuation system
  • A new 3.6 metre high perimeter fencing on alignment to match new provisions 
  • A new shot put, hammer, discus and javelin infield throwing areas and associated containment netting 
  • A new high jump, steeplechase and horizontal jump areas and associated facilities
  • A new roofed and tiered spectator areas 
  • A new 4m grass training track and 1.1m high fencing 
  • Repositioning flood lighting system locally to match new perimeter fencing in three above 
  • Six 10m long storage and dressing room containers and portacabins 
  • One water supply to steeplechase jump and potable water points at containers/portacabins
  • All ducting, access points, emergency features and site development works
  • Ten roofed team dugouts.

The applicant is also seeking planning permission for all associated site development works, landscaping works. boundary treatments, sustainable drainage system (SuDs) features, drainage infrastructure, services infrastructure, bin stores, and upgrade of existing lighting.

The date received on the application is listed as January 24 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as February 27 and March 19 respectively.
