A councillor has told Kildare County Councillor (KCC) about a playground that he says 'is in a dire state.'

The comments were made by Fine Gael Cllr Paddy Curran at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting on Wednesday, January 17 last.

Cllr Curran motioned for KCC to take in charge the playground located in the Oaktree Green area of Kildare town.

He told KCC: "A child's development is key to their growth, but the children in this area are being denied this opportunity (because of the current state of the playground).

"There are large craters in the middle of the playground; it's an accident waiting to happen."

Fine Gael Cllr Paddy Curran.

In it's report at the meeting, KCC said: "We have re-contacted the developer in January 2024 regarding the playground condition.

"Development Control (DC) will continue to liaise with the developer whilst they bring the estate up to a taking in charge standard."

KCC also said that the Parks Section will assist the DC Section with this work where required.

Upon hearing this, Cllr Curran said: I welcome the contact from the Parks Section and look forward to a quick solution on this."
