A Naas District Court defendant stands accused of damaging barrier at The Curragh, and driving into an area where live-fire exercises were taking place.

The allegation relates to Francois Drion, with an address given as Taroka Stud in Ballysax, and was heard in the court on Thursday, February 8 last.

Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan that on June 26 last, the 51-year-old was approached by Defence Forces members on The Curragh, and told not to proceed on his journey, as there were live-fire exercises taking place at the time.

However, it was alleged that Mr Drion ignored their request and allegedly proceeded to drive through a barrier and into the region where the exercises were taking place.

Judge Zaidan refused jurisdiction over the case and adjourned the matter to March 21, to allow time for a book of evidence to be produced by gardaí.

He also adjourned the matter to allow time for the Director of Public Prosecutions to consider his refusal.
