Kildare County Council (KCC) has outlined information on supports and grants for heritage / monument works in the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District (MD).
The information was requested at the last MD meeting, which was held on Friday, February 2 last.
Social Democrats councillor Aidan Farrelly asked KCC to 'provide information as to any supports / grants available to community groups and administered through KCC in this MD regarding heritage / monument works?'

In response, KCC said: "Through the Heritage Office of KCC (and the Arts Office in the case of item number five), the council administers the following five grant schemes: the Historic Structures Fund and Built Heritage Investment Scheme (Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage funded scheme) relates to built heritage projects.
"The closing date for receipt of applications in 2024 closed for both schemes on January 19, 2024."
For the second item, KCC said: "Thatching Grants (KCC own Conservation Budget) provides support to owners of thatched properties."

For the third item, KCC noted: "The KCC Community Heritage Grants Scheme relates to aspects of heritage as set out in the Heritage Act 1995 including inter alia, monuments, archaeological objects, heritage objects, flora and fauna, wildlife habitats, landscapes, heritage gardens and parks.
"The closing date for this scheme is March 8, 2024."
For item four, KCC outlined: "Community Monuments Funds (Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage funded scheme).
"The aim of this scheme is to conserve, maintain and protect archaeological monuments.
"The closing date for applications was February 1, 2024."
For the final item, KCC said: "Creative Ireland Bursaries (Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media).
"The closing date for applications is 28 February 2024."
KCC further said that other grants will open during the year, such as: the Heritage Council funded 'Community Heritage Grant Scheme.'
"Details will be posted on the KCC website with further details as these are confirmed," KCC added.
