Huge Local Property Tax nominations for the Kildare-Newbridge MD

The nominations were put forward at a recent Kildare County Council meeting.

Three large Local Property Tax nominations were put forward at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting on Wednesday, February 21 last.

Fianna Fáil councillor Suzanne Doyle nominated for: €400,000 to go towards the MD’s roads budget, €30,000 to go towards public lighting (under the roads section) and €150,000 to go towards the MD's taking-in-charge programme.

The nominations were seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer, and were ultimately agreed upon by all.

OTHER NOMINATIONS

Sinn Féin Cllr Noel Connolly nominated for €20,000 to go towards road improvements within the MD.

Speaking following the meeting, he told the Leinster Leader that the funds 'would address the issue where several cars are accessing the back pitch at Ellistown GFC and have ended up in the ditch.'

This nomination was seconded by Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer.

Cllr Connolly also nominated for €500 to go towards the Residents Association of Dara Park estate located in Newbridge, which would go towards funding landscaping works.

FG Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer seconded this nomination.

A separate FG representative (Cllr Kevin Duffy) also proposed for €5,000 to be nominated towards the Newbridge St Patrick's Parade festival fund for 2024, and a further €3,000 for the Monasterevin St Patrick's Parade festival fund for 2024.

These nominations were seconded by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender.
