€190,000 of suspected drugs alongside ammunition have been seized by gardaí in North Kildare.
Commenting on the seizure, a garda spokesperson said: "€190,000 of suspected drugs were seized in addition to a quantity of 9mm ammunition in an operation conducted as part of Operation Tara in County Kildare on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
"The operation, which was conducted by the North Kildare Drugs Unit as part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs in North Kildare, took place shortly before 9pm on the Straffan Road in Maynooth."
The spokesperson continued: "Approximately €150,000 of suspected cannabis and €40,000 of suspected cocaine was seized.
"149 9mm bullets were also seized in addition to €2,500 in cash.
"A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and he is currently being detained at a Garda Station in County Kildare under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007."
The spokesperson explained that the seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis, while the ammunition will be examined by the Garda Ballistics Unit.
Lastly, the spokesperson added that garda investigations into this matter are ongoing.
