The Luas tram system should be extended to Blessington.

Cllr Edward Timmins is making a submission to the forthcoming town plan for Blessington for this to happen.

He wants the transport system extended from Saggart to the west Wicklow town and for a park and ride facility to be built in Blessington.

“I already succeeded in having the Luas extension to Blessington inserted in the current Wicklow County Council Development plan. I recently recorded a video on this topic and it has already received more than 1000 views on Facebook  and several local people have been in touch. I have had individual meetings with commuters including students and they are all eager to see action on this issue. We must be ambitious for public transport in this area,” said Cllr timmins.

He is also encouraging Blessington residents to take  an interest in the town’s future by making submission to the forthcoming Blessingto Local Area Plan, which will provide the framework of future development across numerous headings.

“The town is set to grow in the coming years  and we can have an input to ensure this growth is for the better,” he said.

Pre-draft public consultation for the preparation of the new plan runs until Wednesday April 3.
