Kildare court defendant reprimanded for behaviour towards their barrister

JUDGE'S COMMENTS

Kildare court defendant reprimanded for behaviour towards their barrister

Judge Desmond Zaidan was not impressed by the defendant's behaviour.

A Naas District Court judge told off a defendant for their apparent rude behaviour towards their barrister.

The defendant appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan on Thursday, March 7 last.

Their barrister, Aisling Murphy, was told that the case was being adjourned to a later date, as the prosecuting garda involved in the case against her client was not present.

When she explained the judge's decision to her client, the defendant loudly replied: "When!?"

Judge Zaidan interjected: "Show some respect; she is doing her best to help you."

When the defendant kept trying to speak to the judge, they were expelled from the court room by gardaí, and the judge briefly rose for around one minute.

Aisling Murphy was defending the accused involved in the case.

The defendant could be seen muttering something angrily when they left the courtroom.

They were brought before the judge later in the day, and they were told that the case against them had been adjourned to a date later this month for hearing.

The judge remanded the accused on continuing bail until the case resumes.
