A 12-year-old boy from Clane named Logan Kelly was among the talented youths who participated in the launch of the We Are Music Generation programme.

The event took place on Saturday, March 2 last in the National Convention Centre in County Dublin, and ran from 11am to 4.30pm.

Young musicians involved in the Music Generation programme across Ireland performed at the event.

This national gathering, which was attended by close to 1,000 children and young people from all across Ireland, also featured performances (over 300 young people took to the stage), in addition to workshops.

Commenting on the event, Logan told the Leinster Leader: "We Are Music Generation is all about giving children and young people a space to perform.

"When they asked if I would like to take part in their event, I was delighted (to have been asked)."

He continued: "Going to We Are Music Generation was educational, fun and so interesting as well as being a great experience.

"Every where I looked, it was brilliant to see all of the children and young people perform and it was very inspiring to see their creativity and talents.

"There were some workshops too which were great fun and performed at the Open Mic at the Guitar Workshop with Pádraig Joyce and it was so cool!"

Logan concluded: "After chatting to lots of great young people and interviewing The Kabin Studio, Síomha and the band Botanics, I realised that We Are Music Generation has everything for everyone."

According to organisers, the programme, which has been developed in consultation with young people, refers to a year 'dedicated to celebrating the transformative impact of performance music education on the lives of children and young people.'
