An alleged road blockage led to an assault, according to gardaí present in Naas District Court on Thursday, March 14 last.

The accusation relates to Nicu Carp, with an address listed as Apartment 8, The Elm, Priory Court in Kildare town.

Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan that the incident allegedly took place on the Meadow Road in Kildare town on April 16 last.

The Director of Public Prosecutions indicated for Judge Zaidan to deal with the matter via summary disposal.

It was alleged that 29-year-old got involved in an argument with another person blocking the road, and gardaí claimed that this led to Mr Carp striking this person.

Gardaí added that the alleged injured party fell backwards and sustained a cut to the back of their head, which required stitches.

However, it was heard that the alleged injured party was knocked unconscius as a result of the alleged fall, and made a full recovery.

Judge Zaidan decided to accept jurisdiction over the case and adjourned it to July 4 for hearing.

He remanded Mr Carp on continuing bail until the case resumes.
