Better public lighting is to be put in along canal route

'A busy place for walkers and runners'

New lighting is planned for canal route

The canal harbour area in Naas

New public lighting is to be provided along part of the Grand Canal in Naas.

Naas Mayor Bill Clear asked, at a Naas Municipal District meeting, if Kildare County Council could confirm if it plans to install new lighting along the canal towpath as part of the Naas to Sallins greenway.

He said it is particularly needed from Leinster Mill to Sallins “which is a busy spot at the moment for anyone walking or running at night.”

According to KCC, the existing public lighting will be renewed and improved along the portion of the canal that is lit at the moment. Public lighting is also proposed along the canal for the portion of the greenway scheme between Osberstown Bridge and Sallins.
