The homes are due to be delivered in June 2024.
A Senator for Kildare South has welcomed the announcement of 25 extra cost rental homes for one region of Newbridge.
Fianna Fail Senator Fiona O'Loughlin has welcomed the announcement of 25 new cost rental homes for the Páirc na Manach development in Ballymany, which are due to be delivered in June 2024.
A total funding of €4.9million is being provided by the Department of Housing, and the homes will be let at rates which are approximately 25 per cent below open market rates.
Welcoming the announcement, the Newbridge-based politician said:"Cost rental developments such as this will enable more middle-income households in Kildare South to access high-quality, secure homes close to their work and community.
"In addition to below-market rates, residents will also be provided with long-term security of tenure."
She continued: "I have been liaising with Minister Darragh O'Brien and his officials and calling for our community to be given additional cost rental units for some time; Cost rental is an obvious solution for us in Kildare South.
"Cost rental properties target the squeezed middle, those who earn too much to secure social housing supports, but perhaps too little to easily access the private housing market.
Senator O'Loughlin concluded: "I will continue to work with Minister O'Brien and his team to see these properties delivered in a timely manner."
