The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine has made a commitment to deliver €100 per hectare to farmers throughout Ireland, including in Kildare, who plant crops in 2024.
The announcement was made today by Minister Charlie McConalogue, who is aligned with Fianna Fáil.
His promise was welcomed by his party colleague, Senator for Kildare South Fiona O'Loughlin.
Commenting on the announcement, Senator O'Loughlin said: "This is a hugely welcome commitment from the Minister that will help tillage farmers across Kildare, particularly through what are continued difficult conditions due to adverse weather, leading tillage farmers to be unsure of what they can plant and what it will yield.
"Fianna Fáil in government delivered a 50 per cent increase in funding for CAP (the Common Agricultural Policy) and will continue to prioritise delivering on commitments to farming families."
The Newbridge politician added: "Fianna Fáil wants farmers to be confident in what they do, confident in what they can deliver and confident in the future of their industry."
"I will continue to do everything I can to help farm families, especially through this hugely difficult period of unsettled weather that is becoming increasingly common," she concluded.
