Man shouted abuse and lobbed stones at girlfriend's house

Gardaí 'have concerns'

A man shouted abuse and threw stones at his girlfriend's house, Naas District Court was told.

The man was before the court for breaching a court order.

The court was told that the gardaí are concerned and while these incidents were relatively minor, other incidents were not.

The court was told that the man breached the order within a week.

Cairbre Finan said there has been some communication between the pair and they have matching tattoos.

The court heard the gardaí have concerns for the injured party, who is living in the family home.

The man told the court he is living in a field, has no money and is not receiving social welfare. He said he had started taking cannabis when he was 12 or 13.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said the man should get counselling to help him move on.

He said there is something wrong with a system which won’t pay social welfare because the applicant does not have an address or provide rehab treatment until someone with addiction issues has been off substances for five weeks.

“This is supposed to be one of the richest countries in the world,” he said.

The judge adjourned the matter to July 4, urging that the gardaí endeavour to find accommodation for the man.
