Improvement works have been confirmed for a 'rat run' area in Newbridge.
At the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting, which was held on Wednesday, April 17 last, Fine Gael councillor Peggy O'Dwyer motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) 'to consider a three way stop design at the Mooney’s Road Junction leading to the Ring of Roseberry and Hawkfield.'
Her motion was seconded by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender, and Cllr O'Dwyer remarked that the area had become 'a rat run.'
KCC told Cllr O'Dwyer via its report at the meeting: "Further to site visit, the MD office have carried out an assessment and agree that the junction will benefit from improvement works.
"The MD office agree to prepare a design and revert back to Cllr O’Dwyer."
"All works are subject to budget availability," KCC concluded.
Cllr O'Dwyer and Cllr Pender both said that they welcomed KCC's report.
