Fresh appeal for information to locate couple 33 years after they disappeared

Conor and Sheila Dwyer, from Fermoy in North Cork, were last seen on April 30 1991
Gardaí have renewed an appeal for information following the disappearance of a couple who were last seen in Co Cork over 30 years ago.
Conor and Sheila Dwyer, from Fermoy in North Cork, were last seen near their home in Chapel Hill on April 30 1991.
The couple, who were both aged in their 60s at the time, were well-known in the locality and, according to gardai, drove a white Toyota Cressida with a 5797ZT registration (see below).
On the anniversary of their disappearance, a renewed appeal was broadcast on RTÉ's Crimecall on Monday night.
Retired Chief Superintendent Kieran McGann, who worked on the case, said the disappearance of Conor and Sheila "remains a mystery to the community" and that he hopes the fresh appeal will help bring "some closure to the family".
Conor Dwyer’s former colleague Peter Massey told Crimecall that Mr Dwyer was a "kind, gentle and honest man" and he and his wife were "just nice people to be around".
Renewing the appeal for information, Superintendent Michael Corbett said: "As you can imagine it's been a very difficult time for the Dwyer family, for their friends, their neighbours and indeed the wider community in Fermoy".
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information on the Dwyers or their Toyota Cressida car to contact Crimecall on 1800 40 50 60 or Fermoy garda station on 025 8210.
