Maintenance for North Kildare stream sought

Kildare County Council's headquarters in Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park in Naas.

A potential stream maintenance process for the Meadowbrook stream in Maynooth was sought at a recent Kildare County Council (KCC) meeting.

The matter brought up at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which was held on Friday, May 3 last, by Green Party councillor Peter Hamilton.

Cllr Hamilton motioned for the following: "That KCC outlines a stream maintenance process for the Meadowbrook stream through Meadowbrook Estate to Old Greenfield in Maynooth that prevents the accumulation of waste and natural debris to reduce flooding risk and improve local amenity."

His motion was seconded by Independent Cllr Pádraig McEvoy.

KCC told Cllr Hamilton: "The Meadowbrook stream is maintained regularly by both the Municipal District and the drainage maintenance team.

"The purpose of this maintenance is to relieve blockages that may increase any flood risk in the area."

"The stream is inspected at regular intervals throughout the year and maintenance carried out when required," KCC concluded.

Cllr Hamilton replied that he accepted KCC's report at the meeting.
