Bomb squad called to town located on Kildare-Offaly border following discovery of suspicious device

The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was recently notified about the discovery of a suspicious device in Edenderry.

An official garda spokesperson told the Leinster Leader about the incident: "Gardaí received a report of a suspicious device in the Castleview Park area of Edenderry, County Offaly, at approximately midday on Friday, May 10, 2024.

"The area was cordoned off and the EOD Unit attended the scene.

"The suspicious device has been removed from the scene by the Army EOD and the cordon has been lifted."

The spokespersona added that investigations are currently ongoing.
