Over €100,000 has been allocated to biodiversity projects across County Kildare, it has been announced.
The announcement was welcomed by Kildare-based Fianna Fáil Senator Fiona O'Loughlin, who welcomed over €100,000 in funding for Kildare County Council to carry out biodiversity projects through the Local Biodiversity Action Fund (LBAF).
The fund was created to assist local authorities in the implementation of actions in support of biodiversity.
A total just over €8.6 million has been granted to local authorities through the LBAF since the scheme launched in 2018.
Commenting on the announcement, Senator O'Loughlin said: "Local authorities are crucial in tackling the biodiversity crisis and I'm thrilled to see ten projects across Kildare receive funding under this scheme.
"These locally-led initiatives benefit everyone, especially local communities."
She added: "With more Biodiversity Officers joining our local authorities through the Biodiversity Officer Programme, I am confident that the positive impacts on nature and people will continue to expand."
