National Ambulance Service perform guard of honor as young Maynooth paramedic laid to rest

The guard of honour for paramedic Ross Murphy

An "exceptional" young paramedic, Ross Murphy, was laid to rest on Monday afternoon in Maynooth, following his tragic sudden death last week.

The local community and colleagues from the National Ambulance Service have been paying heartfelt tributes to Ross since he passed away unexpectedly last Thursday, May 16, at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Ross Murphy was a life saving emergency services officer with the National Ambulance Service (NAS), having previously worked for Lifeline Ambulance. He was from Maynooth.

St. Mary's Church in Maynooth was filled with loved ones and fellow emergency service workers on Monday afternoon for Ross's funeral mass, where they gathered not only to mourn but also to celebrate the life of a much-missed individual. The live-saving hero was laid to rest in Laraghbryan Cemetery, Maynooth.

In a touching tribute on social media, the National Ambulance Service said "today we were honoured to be able to celebrate the life and mourn the passing of Ross Murphy with his family".

"An exceptional young man. Rest easy Ross."

Dublin Fire Brigade also led the tributes online, saying they were "deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ross.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and our colleagues in the National Ambulance Service. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
