Kildare County Council (KCC) will send a letter to the Irish National Stud, it has been agreed upon.
The decision was heard at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, May 15 last.
Sinn Féin councillor Noel Connolly motioned for KCC to 'liase with the Irish National Stud to ascertain if they would have lands suitable for leasing for leisure and recreational purposes.'
His motion was seconded by Fine Gael Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer, and Fianna Fáil Cllr Suzanne Doyle also voiced support for the motion heard at the meeting.
In response, KCC told Cllr Connolly that, with the members’ agreement, it can write to the Irish National Stud on their behalf.
After the matter was put to a brief vote, the councillors present at the meeting unanimously voted in favour of Cllr Connolly’s motion.
A letter is due to be sent by KCC to the Irish National Stud in relation to Cllr Connolly's enquiry.
