Cathaoirleach Daragh Fitzpatrick
Numerous tributes were paid to outgoing Kildare County Council cathaoirleach Daragh Fitzpatrick at what was the last council meeting prior to the forthcoming elections.
Fellow Fianna Fáil councillor Suzanne Doyle paid tribute to his empathy and Fine Gael’s Joe Neville said Cllr Fitzpatrick’s input made for a successful year for the council and he noted that despite party affiliations, the councillor's generally worked together for they good of the county.
Cllr Peter Hamilton (Green Party) described the council as progressive, adding that a lot of work was done over its five year lifespan.Independent Seamie Moore said Cllr Fitzpatrick was a very fair chairman.
Councillors also thanked leas cathaoirleach Tracey O’Dwyer for her roles as deputy ove the preceding 12 months.
