A number of crimes reported in the North Kildare region are currently under investigation, a member of An Garda Síochána (AGS) has said.
Garda Dave Prendergast discussed the incidents on KFM yesterday morning.
For the first incident, Gda Prendergast said a crime was reported at the William Grove estate in Ardclough on Wednesday, May 29 last at around 5.30am.
He said that two males broke into a car and stole two sunglasses, and proceeded to make their getaway 'in a dark-coloured car, possibly an Opel Insignia.'
For the second incident, Gda Prendergast said that it occurred in The Woodlands estate of Celbridge, between Wednesday, May 29 last 9pm to Thursday, May 30 at 9am.
He said that sum of money was taken from a car.
Gda Prendergast added that a nearby second car in the same estate was also broken into, but nothing was taken from it.
For the third incident, he said that the attempted theft of a vehicle took place at the Cill Droch Court estate in Celbridge, on Wednesday, May 29 last.
"This incident took place at around 6.25am and damage was caused to the vehicle," he said.
For the fourth incident, he said that it took place place in The Walled Gardens estate in Celbridge.
He explained that a white Volvo 40 series hatchback car was stolen there between 9pm on Wednesday, May 29 last and 6am on Thursday, May 30.
For the fifth incident, Gda Prendergast said that it also occurred in The Walled Gardens estate.
This incident took place between 6pm Wednesday, May 29 last and 9am on Thursday, May 30 last, and involved the break-in of a car.
However, nothing was taken from the car by the perpetrator.
For the sixth incident, he said that it took place in the Ard Ratha estate in Rathangan between 12am and 9am on Friday, May 31 last.
He explained that an attempted car theft took place, and that the owner of the car saw some damage done to the car as a result.
Gda Prendergast added that, at the same estate, on Friday, between 6am and 9.40am, an attempted car theft and damage was caused to a separate car, but nothing was taken.
For the final incident, he explained that on Wednesday, May 29 last, a car was found 'ransacked, with the doors wide open' at around 2.30am.
This incident took place in the The Avenue area of Westfield in Leixlip.
When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incidents outlined by Gda Prendergast, a spokeperson for AGS responded: "Gardaí have received a number of reported incidents that occurred in the North Kildare area over May 29 and May 30, 2024."
The spokesperson added: "Investigations are ongoing into these incidents at this time."
