An Garda Síochána (AGS) based in County Kildare are investigating an incident of criminal damage which occurred at a County Kildare school.

The matter was discussed on KFM yesterday morning by Garda Jonathan Ryan.

He explained to host Eoin Beatty that the incident took place at Coláiste Chiaráin in Leixlip sometime between June 20 (Thursday) last and June 24 (Monday) last, with the incident being reported to AGS on the latter date.

Gda Ryan added: "A caretaker called in to the school on Monday morning and discovered that a shed (on the school's grounds) had been broken into, and a number of tins of paint had been taken out and daubed all over the walls of the school."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01 666 7800.

When asked about the matter by the Leinster Leader, a spokesperson for AGS responded: "Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage at a premises on Celbridge Road, County Kildare which was reported on Monday, June 24, 2024."

"Investigations are ongoing," they added.
