A Kildare town resident allegedly struck another man from behind and proceeded to kick him.

Gardaí who were present in Naas District Court on Thursday, July 11 relayed allegations to substitute judge Nicola-Jane Andrews.

The alleged assault causing harm charge concerns one Shane Kenny, with an address listed as 3524 Bishopsland in Kildare town.

Judge Andrews was told by gardaí that the 30-year-old defendant allegedly assaulted the man at Nugent Street in Kildare town on September 1, 2019.

According to gardaí, the alleged injured party received a split eyebrow and damage to his dentures as a result of the alleged assault.

Sergeant David Hanrahan told the judge that Mr Kenny was later identified as the alleged attacker.

Judge Andrews accepted jurisdiction over the case and adjourned it to September 12 to allow time for a plea to be marked.

She also adjourned it to allow time for the disclosure of evidence to the defence.
