Judge tells couple he could send them both to jail

A couple who appeared before a family law hearing were told that they could be both sent to jail.

The hearing took place at Naas District Court.

It was claimed that the woman was denying him access to their children and he was not paying maintenance.

The woman alleged he was earning in excess of €60,000 a year and referring to the non payment of maintenance she said “you think they live on air.”

There was also a dispute between the pair over whether he turned up for a recent visit arrangement.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said it was not good for the mental health of the children that their parents were in dispute.

The court heard that there was an arrangement for him to pay maintenance of €240 per week.

The judge adjourned the matter.
