LATEST: Major €10m  housing project planned for Athy

Dozens of new homes are being planned beside the Athy Distributor Road in Athy.  

A planning application was submitted to Kildare County Council by developer David Walsh Homes Limited which is based in Castledermot. 

A total of 48 residential units are planned beside the existing Shanrath housing estate. 

The estimated construction value of the proposed project is €10m, according to Construction Information Services database. 

Being planned are:

  • 8  4-bed two-storey semi-detached dwellings
  • 34  3-bed two-storey semi-detached dwellings 
  • 6 2-bed two-storey semi-detached dwellings

Also planned are new internal roadways and footpaths by extending the existing residential road network within the existing Shanrath housing estate.

The designs include a shared footpath and cycle lane connection with the existing shared footpath and cycle lane along the Athy Distributor Route (N78).

Open space areas will include play areas.
