A six-year driving disqualification was imposed on a Kildare town resident over two counts of dangerous driving.
Jordan Lubrani, with an address listed as 6 Ruanbeg Avenue in Kildare town, but who is currently serving a custodial sentence, was convicted by Judge Desmond Zaidan of the offences at Naas District Court on Thursday, July 25 last.
The 31-year-old appeared via video-link on the date in question.
Gardaí told the judge that on July 7, 2019, Mr Lubrani was a Detective Garda was following a car being driven by Mr Lubrani in the Roseberry area in Newbridge.
The Det Gda activated their sirens, and Mr Lubrani subsequently took off at high speeds.
Mr Lubrani eventually lost control over the car and hit a pillar, it was heard.
Gardaí added that he fled from the scene.
Then, on April 1, 2020, he was stopped by gardaí at a Covid-19 checkpoint on The Curragh, but proceeded flee the area at high speed.
After consideration, Judge Zaidan that he would impose two six-year disqualifications on Mr Lubrani.
He added that the two disqualifications would run concurrently.
