A talented artist has said he has been inundated with compliments for his new murals in Naas.
Cian Mekitarian made the revelation while discussing his latest project with the Leinster Leader.
Explaining the origins of the project, Cian said: "I was approached by councillor Bill Clear in January 2024, on behalf of Naas Tidy Towns, about artistically decorating the traffic utility boxes on the Main Street in Naas.
"We agreed on the location of four utility boxes and worked out a theme to include local nature, cycling and the Irish language: Sionnach (fox), dobharcú (otter), bláthanna (flowers) and rothar (bicycle) were chosen and approved by committee.
"I worked out really colourful, vibrant designs and began rendering the images in June."
He added: "Due to the Irish summer, I have only recently finished the last one!"
Cian also revealed that locals are impressed with his works: "The support and kindness I received on the street and online has been phenomenal.
"Bill and the Tidy Towns are very happy with the project and plan to expand the initiative further, in Naas and surrounding areas."
