Council has no plans to tackle controversial Kildare supermarket entrance

Dunnes Stores, Naas

Kildare County Council has no plans to improve the entrance to the Dunnes Stores outlet at North Main Street, Naas.

Cllr Bill Clear said something needs to be done to “make it safer for pedestrians to cross the entrance in a safe manner.”

But KCC said it has no proposals at present.

At a Naas Municipal District meeting, Cllr Clear claimed the entrance is very unsafe.

“Cars are flying across the road, children and elderly people have to go out on to the road, there are disputes and shouts and horns sounding on a daily basis,” he said.

Pointing out that KCC “owns the paths and road” he said “we must do something.”

He added: “This is an everyday occurrence, we don’t know half of what’s going on on a daily basis. I’m very worried about it.”

He previously said the arrival of Dunnes “has been fantastic for Naas but people are forced onto the street multiple times a day.”
