A total of 30 new permanent jobs are set to be created at the new €9.5 million ALDI store planned for North Kildare.

The announcement about the new store comes as the retailer was recently granted planning permission from Kildare County Council for its 1,315 square metre store.

According to the supermarket giant, it is aiming to open the store in 2026, making it the tenth ALDI store to open in Kildare since 2004, and it will create up to 30 permanent jobs in the local area.

Commenting on the announcement, Colin Breslin, Managing Director Buying and Services at ALDI Ireland, said: "We are delighted that we have been given the green light for the development of our new store in Kilcock, County Kildare.

"This is the final store to be granted planning permission as part of the €33.6m Midland investment plan we announced last year.

"Every new ALDI store brings greater choice, quality, and value to shoppers, whilst also creating new permanent jobs in the community."

He concluded: "We look forward to developing and opening the store and bringing more ALDI value to Kildare."

The store will offer 114 car parking spaces for customers and 24 bike parking spaces.

ALDI has also said that it is investing in a green future through the provision of 10 electric vehicle charging points, while the store will be powered by 100 per cent green electricity and will feature circa 146 solar panels on the roof.

Other locations included in ALDI’s Midland investment plan include new stores planned for Moate (County Westmeath), Granard (County Longford) and Tullamore (County Offaly).

Planning permission has now been approved for all four stores, with future opening dates planned as well.
