A TD has encouraged local groups in County Kildare to submit their applications for the Community Centre Investment Fund 2024.
Martin Heydon, Fine Gael TD for Kildare South, has encouraged community groups in Kildare to avail of up to €100,000 in funding to support the upgrade and refurbishment of community centres.
A new round of funding under the Community Centres Investment Fund 2024 was announced back in June by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys.
The deadline is at 3pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Mr Heydon TD said: "Community centres in Kildare play a vital role in our towns and villages and are at the heart of our vibrant communities.
"This funding provides a welcome helping hand to improve our local community spaces."
He continued: "With applications set to close on August 29, I urge local groups to get their applications finalised and submitted.
"Whether it be to carry out small renovation works, energy upgrades, improvements to kitchen or toilet facilities, or otherwise, the fund will provide grants from €10,000 up to a maximum of €100,000.
"I am delighted that this funding has been made available by Minister Humphreys, recognising the importance of community centres, and the dedication and commitment of volunteers in Kildare."
He also said that local groups should visit the Department of Rural & Development website in order to 'avail of more information on the funding, including a helpful video to assist potential applicants.'
Mr Heydon concluded: "We are all well aware of the wonderful broad range of groups, events, and activities which our community centres play host to... this funding will help ensure they can continue to serve communities across Kildare."
