'Trips and falls' on new €5m County Kildare road

A section of Kilcullen Road, Naas

Information is being sought about "trips and falls" on a new road in Naas that cost €5m and took some time to build, leading to some complaints from local residents.

Local councillor Evie Sammon has asked Kildare County Council for information about alleged accidents.

She wants KCC to outline "the number of reports/complaints of trips and falls on the curbing on the Kilcullen Road it has received."

The redesigned  narrowed the route for motorists and also created new footpaths, cycle routes and enhanced public realm space with seating.

But independent councillor Seamie Moore said recently some drivers are using Patrician Avenue as “rat run” to avoid turning off the road and on to the route leading to Naas Hospital and Ballymore Eustace instead.
